Even though over 60% of marriages end in divorce, why do US men and women still want to get married?

Hi all! I'm not anti-family or anti-kids but I just don't understand a lot of the stupid things people do. It's very clear from statistical data that the institution of marriage doesn't last anymore. Personally, I think marriage should be illegal. It makes no sense and divorce can cause people a lot of long-term problems, especially financial problems as well as the many negative stigmas of divorce. I've never been married (never will out of choice) and I don't have any kids (never will have any out of choice). I have many friends who have been divorced and they all have told me marriage was one of the worst investments they ever made in their life. I just don't understand why men and women feel like the need each other to be whole. Men and women don't need each other. If it's all about ual pleasure, which I think a lot of it is, we can always masturbate (it's safe and healthy to do by the way). That's my opinion on that matter. Even though over 60% of marriages end in divorce, why do US men and women still want to get married? I think anybody who wants to ever get married or even have kids is just an idiot.
