What is the Jewish understanding of covenant? How does it differ from the notion of “contract”?

it is an unbreakable oath , it can be seen in court cases ,where upon an oath you will tell the truth, so help you god. god made a covenant with adam, noah, abraham, moses and david, they were all broken by the recipients, the final covenant was made by jesus christ at the last supper. a contract is a written agreement between parties in the disposal or buying of material things
