Fainting when someone dies?

My gran died last week, she was 90 years old and had bowl cancer. I was with her when she died, i was felling fine (apart from being extremely upset) when all of a sudden i fell to the floor and woke up in a bed in the next room. I was just wondering what makes someone faint when someone dies?
