Career as an Engineer or Doctor?

I am currently pursuing a degree in chemical engineering. I really like the idea that I can commercialize products for people. I also like the challenge. I recognize that it is needed for society. However, I really feel that if I were a doctor, I could help people and make differences in the lives of individuals. Can anyone tell me about the non monetary rewards of either of these careers.
